“All your base are belong to us,” and the theater is closed.

here’s a morning musing: the genius behind our system and way of life in the Anglosphere is this: the system is nearly completely revolution proof.Do you wonder why?

Here’s why;

Our societies utilize the most potent means of social control ever devised. Beyond a civic religion whose basic tenants are broadly agreed upon across the board by humanists, atheists and agnostics, Christians and Jews and Muslims all like, enshrining the great liberal democratic principles of our society against which revolution is unthinkable, except ny a few at the margins — beyond all that claptrap there’s something more essential. Here it is, in a couple of words;

  • Mortgages,
  • Property taxes and in rem tax foreclosures,
  • Rents and evictions.

As William S Burroughs once said, “There is no place else to go, the theater is closed. There is no place else to go, the theater is closed.” Or as Ian Fleming’s character Dr. No quipped to James Bond, paraphrasing war theorist Clausewitz, the first principle is “to have a secure base. From there one proceeds to freedom of action.”

A secure base is an inalienable base, one from which you cannot be alienated or removed. One which cannot be removed from you.

No one in our society, when you strip away delusion, truly has a fully secure base. Exceopt the most wealthy and even they lack perfect freedom of movement, though they are far closer to being truly soverign beings than anyone else is. Soverign Citizen whining notwithstanding.

The most that one can do is go beneath the underground, and it is in subterranean action that our society’s most intelligent discontents now burrow. For better or for worse.
